About the winemaker

Pierre Gaillard grew up among vines. At the age of 12, he was found plowing the family’s vineyard with a horse. After his winemaking studies in Montpellier, he bought his first vineyard in St-Joseph in 1981, reviving «Clos de Cuminaille» – an ancient vineyard dating back to Roman times.

In recent years, Pierre’s children have become more involved in the domain; but his own passion and influence remain at the heart of the impressive Rhône estate. In total, he has over 60 parcels spread over 35 hectares in the Northern Rhône, which gives an extremely comprehensive overview of everything this appellation has to offer.

Environmental grape growing techniques have been implemented on the three properties. The use of organic fertilizers is adapted to the needs of each vineyard. High planting density allows the roots to develop and helps to regulate the yield. The soil is worked well to push the roots to penetrate deep into the soil, so that the vines can benefit from the natural resources of the terroir.

We are so happy to invite you to Winemaker’s Dinner with Pierre Giallard’s daughter Elise Gaillard!
